Join us on this two-hour guided tour of Montmartre to discover the rebels and martyrs who refused to conform… and how they’ve been inspiring Parisians ever since.

We start our tour at Place des Abbesses – where we ponder the Roman beginnings of the area, imagine our surroundings in the 1100s and even spot a few Art Nouveau gems – before wending our way up the hill at a gentle pace.

We discover what remains of Montmartre’s windmills, vineyards and (in)famous haunts of the artist community, and take in the views from the top of the hill. The tour ends at Sacré-Coeur Basilica, a fascinating – and surprisingly recent – chapter in the history of Paris.

Along the way, we’ll point out our favourite coffee stops, suggestions for lunch or dinner, and other unmissable places to visit during your time in Montmartre.

This tour combines must-see monuments and Instagram spots with lesser-known stories of the people who made Paris what it is today. Depending on our pace, we’ll aim to see:

  • Place des Abbesses
  • The Wall of I Love Yous 💙🤍❤️
  • Eglise Saint-Jean de Montmartre
  • The Bateau-Lavoir artist community – home of Picasso and Modigliani
  • The Maison Colignon grocery store – featured in the film Amélie
  • Dalida’s house
  • Moulin de la Galette – the setting of Renoir’s famous painting
  • Rue de l’Abreuvoir – made famous by Emily in Paris
  • Eglise Saint-Pierre de Montmartre and Place du Tertre
  • Sacré-Coeur Basilica
  • And some incredible views!

    Jacquie

This is the perfect walking tour of Montmartre if you would like to not only visit some of the neighbourhood’s most beautiful and recognisable sights, but also discover a little about what makes them so special. Phoebe is a warm and engaging guide with lots of fun facts and stories. The small group size made it easy to engage with her and other members of the group, whilst not feeling like part of a walking caravan. Merci pour la visite !
